Bombing of Poems over Warsaw

The book documents a public intervention by Casagrande realized in
the capitol of Poland on the 8th of August 2009 during which 80
poems by contemporary Polish and Chilean poets, printed on one
hundred thousand bookmarks, were dropped from a helicopter over
the Castle Square and The Old Town.

Warsaw, almost entirely destroyed by the Nazis in 1944, is the
fourth city after Santiago de Chile, Dubrovnik and Guernica where
The Bombing of Poems has taken place.

Professor John Hutnyk and Cristóbal Bianchi on behalf of
Casagrande will introduce the book.
The event will also feature the screening of a film documenting the
intervention in Warsaw.
Drinks will be served.

Bombing of Poems over Warsaw is published by the City of Warsaw in association with the Government of Chile (DIRAC) and ISH‐London.

The project is supported by the Polish Cultural Institute in London and Goldsmiths University of London.
